dr, bdr and priority 0...

changing an ospf router's priority to a higher value does not allow it to become
the dr or bdr until either the dr or bdr go down, or the ospf process is restarted... alternately, changing a dr or bdr's priority to 0 will release it from designated status...

make the loopbacks point-to-point...

add ospf...

find the designated router...

r1#sh ip ospf int | beg Designated
Designated Router (ID) 2.2.2.2, Interface address 10.1.1.2
Backup Designated router (ID) 1.1.1.1, Interface address 10.1.1.1

if you change the ospf priority on r1 interface f0/0 to 0...

r1#sh ip ospf int | beg Designated
Designated Router (ID) 2.2.2.2, Interface address 10.1.1.2
No backup designated router on this network

then change ospf priority on r1 to 1, and r2 to 0, and we have this...

Transmit Delay is 1 sec, State DROTHER, Priority 0
Designated Router (ID) 1.1.1.1, Interface address 10.1.1.1
No backup designated router on this network
Old designated Router (ID) 2.2.2.2, Interface address 10.1.1.2

this is a sure thing as opposed to clear ip ospf process, or short of bouncing the router...
