here is a video of the three authors of ccie cert guide v4, wendell, denise and russ... pay particular attention as they detail the challenges of writing it, vis a vis, their imposed limitations on content...

i have heard many well placed individuals emphatically declare that for the written, cert guide v4 is all that's needed... that may well be, but i ain't buying it... i have a whole other plan that includes many supplements over the next year or so...
to my point:
if they were so fearful of their limitations why did they waste valuable pages on VTP... there are even several mentions of ISL sprinkled in there, to include a diagram of it's encapsulation!
for the most part i'm enjoying the read, but my eyes just glaze over when confronted with VTP... they also mention Lan Switching as a reference... hello? 1999, CatOs, bye bye... but to give CatOs some credit, those guys had the presence of mind to allow for actually shutting VTP off, unlike IOS where the best you can do is transparent...
urf...
