on the way in today an idea struck me... create a litmus test for prior knowledge and future learning... i'm sure i'm not the first to think of this, nor the last but i thought it might prove useful in my path to prove the ideas that i know, and cement the ideas that i will come to know...

simple enough... testing, 1, 2, 3...
what: STP (spanning tree protocol)
why: it is THE mechanism to prevent switching loops in redundant layer 2 networks
when: i employ it on redundant layer 2 networks to prevent loops that would impede the effective flow of traffic
